Our goal is to foster students’ ability to understand and appreciate the complex literary and cultural traditions of Cambodia.

The Cambodian language and culture course for beginners. It aims to help students to develop communicative competence in the four basic skills of listening, speaking, reading, and writing the language. Students will learn basic vocabulary and sentence structures for use in essential everyday situations through various forms of oral practice. While linguistic aspects of the Cambodian language are the primary focus, introduction to the social and cultural background of the language will also form an important part of the course so they can transform from new learners to proficient learners in Cambodian. Also, to help preserve and promote Cambodian language and its rich cultural heritage too.

COURSE CONTENTS 

• Basic reading, writing, speaking and vocabulary skills in Khmer

• Communicate in simple Khmer

• Basic greetings

• Basic introduction on oneself and others

• Understand numbers, date, time & days

• Describe person, place, and environment
